top stories we are following this morning. san francisco police say the recent killing of a san francisco state student was random and unprovoked. we'll hear reactions from fellow students. and the bay area is preparing for another strike. but this time around bart is planning to make getting around the bay a little easier. we'll explain how they plan to do that in a new contingency plan. breaking news out of san

francisco this morning. police are investigating a fatal stabbing that happened right after last night's giants-dodgers game near a-t and t park. kron four's will tran joins us live right now with what we've learned. will? >>will: this man's age and identity has not been released at this time. all we know is that he was and doctors to gear. we're not sure if that has anything to do with the dodgers and giants a rivalry that took

muni train at randolph and bright streets. just one mile away from san francisco state. his classmates are now speaking to kron four. they tell us, valdez was very nice and approachable.

valdez-- originally from southern california, was a member of the university's men's club water polo team. he was also member of an on-campus club called -- eco students. valdez was known for having a passion for solving environmental issues.

to fix the problem kron4's will tran has been following a story of a deadly stabbing all morning long. >>will: we will have a news conference in 90 minutes from now. we will try to bring it to live as it happens. thin the meantime i'm corresponding with police chief greg serve. he says at this point he doesn't know the motive behind the murder and what led up to the altercation. here's video of the scene. it happened at third and perry at about 1143 if this was the time of around when the giants came to get out. for some reason. up to zero groups of men got into an altercation. be a victim was in fact wearing dodgers gear. he wasn't sure if the attackers or wearing giants but they did tell me that overnight three people were detained. they are saying are rats have been made. they are calling them suspects in this case. we

after 51 year-old david lamont was badly beaten early saturday morning after police say he approached a group of people outside his home who were making noise. lamont's wife then found him lying unconscious- unconscious in the street. people have identified the four people who were there during the assault. at this point they're not calling that person a suspect. authorities said the other three juvenile are considered witnesses to the incident. police are not releasing any more information on these four people but said they are cooperating with the investigation. what police are now calling on any of those four suspects at this point they say there's no evidence to suggest anyone was at the scene-else was at the scene during the attack. david lamont remains in critical condition this morning but police are hoping at some point his condition improved so they can ask him what transpired early saturday morning.

he was visiting a friend at a neighbor's house when *that il pit bulls attacked leaving him seriously wounded. animal control determined the dogs were vicious and recommended they be put down. the dogs owners, however, are putting up a fight.

at 3:00 today, they'll try to convice an antioch appeals board to overturn the "vicious dog" determination. and bring their pit bulls home. a south bay teacher will be arraigned today for allegedly having sex with a student. school officials say.hugo cortes guzman.taught math at santa clara high school.

teacher who admitted to raping a 14-year-old student in 2008. that girl later committed suicide. the story became national news after the judge in the case sentenced rambold to just one *month in prison because -- as the judge put it -- the victim looked older than her real age.

>> a south bay teacher will be arraigned today for allegedly having sex with a student. school officials say.hugo cortes guzman.taught math at santa clara high school. on monday, they received a tip that he had a sexual encounter with a 17-year-old student. an investigation was launched and guzman was arrested a day later. at this point police believe there is only one victim. but their investigation continues. guzman will appear in santa clara county superior court around 1:30 this afternoon. >> a new legal claim accuses officials at the mount diablo school district of failing to report suspected child abuse by a teacher who is now charged with molesting numerous students. the claim on behalf of seven alleged victims of joseph martin, alleges a 2006 district report found martin may have abused children. but the claim filed last week says district officials at the time did not report the findings to police. martin has been charged with over 100 felony counts involving 13 fifth-grade boys. he has pleaded not guilty.

>> santa cruz police arrested a man for stocking and girls at two high schools. officers took 31 year-old joshua paul james into custody earlier this week after spotting the mid to high schools taking defaults photographs of the girls.photographs of the girls.a search of his car turned up photography equipment, storage cards and computer equipment that contain out seen material. investigators also confiscated his home computer. they are searching the hard drive now for any evidence of other victims.
